It's a comedy movie based on a novel of Rıfat Ilgaz, that tells the adventures of a private school class students who are challenged by the arrival of a new headmaster. It's almost impossible to find a Turkish who didn't watch this movie more than once.

Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım (1978) Director: Atıf Yılmaz

It is a romantic drama movie based on the short story of "The Red Scarf" by Cengiz Aitmatov. It is about a village girl who falls in love with a truck driver from Istanbul.

Kış Uykusu/Winter Sleep (2014) Director: Nuri Bilge Ceylan

The story is set in Anatolia and examines the significant divide between the rich and the poor as well as the powerful and the powerless in Turkey. It stars Haluk Bilginer, Demet Akbag and Melisa Sözen.

Yol (1982) Director: Şerif Gören

The film is a portrait of Turkey in the aftermath of the 1980coup d'état: its people and its authorities are shown via the stories of five prisoners given a week's home leave. The film has caused much controversy in Turkey, and was banned until 1999.

It's a science-fiction/comedy movie which stars Cem Yılmaz as a carpet salesman who is abducted by the aliens from the planet G.O.R.A. It shows funny situations of a typical Turkish man in space. It is one of the highest grossing Turkish movies.

Dondurmam Gaymak (2006) Director: Yücel Aksu

It's a comedy film which stars only one professional actor while the rest are residents of Mugla. It's tells the story of a local ice-cream salesman Ali. His motorbike gets stolen by village kids and he starts to accuse big ice-cream brands.

It's a drama film which tells the tragic story of two poor men try to find a television as a last wish for the terminally ill brother of one of them.
